Cassandra has always been quiet. She keeps mostly to herself, simply because she likes to think. Because of this, it takes her time to make friends. However, once someone has fallen into her good graces, she will protect them fiercely. She has seen first-hand how people can be (even if her world-view has been somewhat skewed due to her father’s high position in society), and therefore takes her time to make friends to find out something more about their personalities.

For the daughter of a government official who is often in the spotlight, Cassandra is rather shy. She has learned how to hold herself in public and how to behave so as not to disrupt her father’s chances at re-election, but does not like the posing that she feels she must practice. She would like to be able to walk down the street without wondering who will stop her to ask her something about her father (as if she knows the answers).

the outsides

Cassandra and her twin brother Helenus are the oldest in their family, after Hector. As is usually the case with twins, she has a very close bond with Helenus. For as long as she can remember, the two have shared all their secrets. Her bond with Hector is somewhat different. He is much more the protective older brother, but Cassandra loves him no less fiercely than Helenus. She is much less connected to her younger siblings, perhaps because they have not been constants in her life. However, she does feel a certain sense of family loyalty toward them.

Since she was a child, Cassandra has been pampered. Her father is wealthy, and participates in politics, and can therefore provide anything that his family needs or wants. Cassandra has gone to the best private schools for her whole life, receiving a good education and associating with the highest class of society. She, however, is also curious, and, whether her father agrees or not, often wanders the streets, observing people.

So her life has progressed. She’s not terribly happy with it, but she’s not terribly unhappy, either. She knows that she is privileged, and takes the responsibility that comes with this well, certainly better than some of her other siblings. Though she doesn’t agree with everything her family stands for, she also understands that someone has to be in charge, and thinks that it could be worse.

More recently, after much convincing, she and Helenus managed to persuade their father to let them go to college away from home. Her father finally agreed to let her go, as long as Helenus went with her.

the origins

Cassandra was one of King Priam of Troy’s children, twin sister of Helenus. She (depending on the version of the myth) angered Apollo in some fashion. Because of this, he bestowed upon her the gift of foresight, but also the curse that no one would believe her. As the Trojan War began, Cassandra felt the full force of Apollo’s wrath. She, among other things, advised against taking Paris in and also warned her city about the Trojan Horse. After the war, she was taken by Agamemnon, and later killed by his wife, Clytemnestra.
